Run Coaching By Kelly Mortenson

Helping Runners from Beginner to Elite Reach Their Potential

Going out and running each day at the same pace can be fun and suits many runners fine, but it isn’t going to enable you to achieve the best results if your goal is an upcoming race. Simply running more each day isn’t going to maximize your potential either. What each runner needs, and what I believe in providing, is a balanced training program with a specific purpose driving each run.

While it is certainly possible to PR in a 10K road race, or finish your first 100 mile trail race with nothing more than running as part of your training program, I believe you’ll not only be a better runner, but also a healthier and more fit athlete if you include cross-training activities in your program each week. So I encourage all my clients to incorporate weight lifting, including core exercises and plyometrics, into their routines along with other cardio activities. Along with your specific running workouts, I’ll provide guidance to safely and effectively add these types of cross-training activities to your schedule.

Getting started with a coaching program is easy – I’m ready whenever you are. All it takes is a few minutes of your time. Read about the different coaching plans I offer, and then email me to start the process.

Now the real work begins!

“Of all of the coaches and coaching techniques I have experienced throughout my running career, Kelly Mortenson is by far one of the best. Kelly is extremely knowledgeable about both running and coaching, and is continually working to expand that base of knowledge. Kelly is an encouraging and positive coach, who is invested in the progress of his athletes. He is helpful in setting attainable goals and shares in the excitement when those goals are accomplished. While being coached by Kelly, I set personal records in distances ranging from 5000m all of the way up to the Marathon. During one particular segment under Kelly’s teachings, I set eight Half Marathon PRs in a matter of 10 months, and secured my place on the starting line of the Olympic Trials in the Marathon.” ~ Eric H.
